It happened to my daughter the other day and she said she did not know how to react . She said thank you and left the store . I was wondering if this might have happened to any other women out there ? just curious and how you reacted .

Just say thank you, smile and move on. Did you ask her if she was wearing perfume? I've complimented men with nice smelling cologne in the past.

Of course say Thank You and move on.

What an odd question. I suppose it depends on how old your daughter is, but girls typically wear perfume so they'll smell good.

I can see a teenager not knowing how to react... how old is your daughter?

I would do (and have done!) as the others said: Say 'thank you' with a smile, and keep moving.

A smile and a thank you. Kind of simple unless she thought he was a vampire and wanted to suck her blood or somthing then I would have a different reaction.

I've certainly said that to women sometimes. If a woman I am talking to in a store or wherever has an unusually pleasant scent on, I certain comment on how nice it is.

I've never had any woman be anything other than quite pleased. Sometimes they even volunteer what it is they are wearing.

I find the question odd too. If your daughter were in her late teens, I can see her being uncertain enough about herself to feel uncomfortable if the compliment came from an adult male, but I would think a young woman in her twenties would have enough poise to do the obvious, "Thank you." I hope your daughter didn't feel obliged to leave the store simply because a man complimented her.

It was a one line opener. The guy found her attractive and was trying to strike up a conversation. If she found him attractive, she could pursue it or simply say thanks and walk off.

Was it Quasimodo or Johnny Depp who made the remark?

She didn't know how to react? What in the world?

How about smiling, saying "Thank you," then going about her business?

If a man giving her a compliment is the worst thing your daughter will encounter in life, she should consider herself lucky. Yeesh.
