Do you think this style of a black leather jacket screams midlife crisis on a soon to be 40 year old? I was thinking of treating myself to something nice...

I've seen Schott leather jackets with a lot more embellishment (epaulets, asymmetrical zippers, embellished collars/lapels, embellished zipper tabs, buckles). The one that you picked is pretty basic and classic. So, NO, it does not scream 'midlife crisis' at all.

But it depends on how you wear it.

Pair it with frat boy/homeboy accoutrements, then yes, it will scream midlife crisis:

It all depends on your looks. It might scream of a midlife crisis, or it might help you to look the best ever.
It's one of those "make it or break it" things I guess.

I like it. It's pretty classic. I usually prefer brown leather though, like this...

Armani Collezioni Basketweave Leather Jacket, Roll-Tip V-Neck Sweater, Check Cotton Shirt & 5-Pocket Twill Pants - Neiman Marcus

But that's just me...it is a personal choice depending on your style, what color you look best in, etc. Though the black leather would look better on a motorcycle..

Its pretty boring looking. I personally like the jackets without a collar...believe its called bomber style.

I thought mid-life crisis meant you bought a Corvette.
