2013 WTTC (ws-sf) DING Ning - LI Xiaoxia [HD] [Full Match/Chinese] - YouTube

look at these two Chinese female athletes. Hairstyles leave something to be desired. Imagine the beautiful Ding Ning with longer hair, pehaps a pony-tail. What do you think?

Why are they so seemingly jammed up when it comes to hair styles on their beautiful female athletes?

They are elite, Olympic athletes.

Isn't their cuteness and hairstyles sort of besides the point?

Coincidence. Do a google search for images on Chinese female athletes and you'll see all sorts of hair styles.

Do they have to have helmet-hair hairstyles?

The haircuts make them look like Chinese Justin Biebers. They look like boys. But one or two Summer Olympics ago, the female swimmers wore weird short, spikey do's. Yet the gymnastic contenders had long hair.

If I was competing at the Olympic level and it was easier to have shorter hair, I wouldn't even think twice about it.

Maybe these women don't give a crap if you think they're 'cute' or 'beautiful'? They have different things to focus on and worry about...MUCH more important things.

I'm of Chinese descent and I used to have short hair when I was a kid.

Short hair = less fuss, more studying.

I am pretty sure they don't give a rat's A$$ what that you think they would look more beautiful if they did something different with their hair.

Why is it that we (er, some in society) seem to think that female athletes not only need to prove themselves as athletes, but also be models/sex symbols at the same time? this drives me nuts.

I mean really, we don't look at male sports stars and pick apart their appearances.
