I have cuffs that I wear at night at times. I was also warned before I got pierced that I had thin cartilage and could not wear heavy earrings, they would tear the holes.

This is entirely unfounded, not true.
b. Sweating wil drag all of the bacteria from you hair and neck right into those peircings. They must be kept clean and anitbiotic on them for some time while spinning the earring to prevent your flesh from closing around metal stem
Do not ever use antibiotics on a piercing, only antimicrobial soap and salt water.
c. That is not multiple piercing in the reference you gave, that is one piercing with a wrap around piece that LOOKS like multiple piercing.

Wrong again, it's probably three piercings. Probably not as many as it looks like but certainly more than one. If it was only one it wouldn't stay in place like that.

a. In the future, in case I change my mind, do all these holes close up? (I am thinking about getting 7 on my left ear only)
b. For a very athletic girl like myself, would I get infections easily because of these piercings? (I do sweat a lot when I play sports)
Here is the picture, this is the look I like

If left at 18 gauge like the ones in the picture probably are, they will close or be unnoticeable. Just clean them after a workout with a warm sea salt and water mixture and you will be fine.
A lot of very misinformed people have responded but rest assured, I am professionally trained. Go to a nice shop. Good piercings are not cheap. Listen to your piercer, not internet people

Hi, Joey,
Can you let me know if I can pierce the bottom one (the very bottom) with 16G piercing needle?

Wrong also because my friend had one...it was one hole only because she took it out so I could see it. It was piable so she could bend it somewhat to fit.

Go for the wraparound foolers, not extra holes.
All those holes, with or without something in them, just look extremely painful to me - literally, I get painful spasms/chills/shudders up the backs of my knees when I unexpectedly encounter sights like these! Always have...presumably, always will, since it's not something I can willfully control.
So regardless of the actual appearance of such "trimmings", I just find them very unpleasant, with a sort of yuck factor as well. Projection, no doubt - but there it is (and there it can stay, as far as I am concerned!)
Good luck finding the right decision for yourself. Regardless of other people's reactions, it's really your choice - but do be aware that lots of folks have strong feelings one way or the other about this.

These are my thoughts. There are reasons why this is not the best idea. People should not stick random holes in their bodies. If it really hurts, like piercing the ear cartilage then possibly Mother Nature is trying to tell you something.

People are so stuck up and narrow minded.
That said, you have to keep that in mind. What kind of jobs are you wanting. The same narrow minded people here are the same that do the hiring. You have to cater to their small minds. Facial tattoos and or piercings (including the ear) are going to exclude you from a lot of stuffy office jobs.
Want to work outside, run your own business, work for little pay, then do what ever you want.
I have my eyebrows pierced and both sides of my lip. I took them out, because of aforementioned narrow minded idiots, a while back and they are imperceptible. My ears, on the other hand, are noticeable. I have 4 in each ear. You can see them from a mile away.
That has not kept me from getting any jobs so far.
If you have great social skills, unlike myself, you can get away with a lot more.
Normal ear piercings are not going to keep you from any job. Excessive or abnormal piercings are going to make it harder for you.
I'm going the start my own business route.
