I'm 5'9 and usually wear a size 2 pant - once in a while a 4 depending on the pant....I have very long legs - it is very hard for me to find pants that are long enough. The advice from store clerks is always "go on-line and order a tall"......tall sizes, I know from experience, are also bigger than their "regular" sized counterparts. So a 2 tall is bigger than a 2 regular so tall sizes usually don't fit me properly. Finding jeans that are tall enough is really difficult for me. Often the crotch is too short in pants, especially when they are small enough and long enough
I am finding this season that Ann Taylor has a few pants styles that are actually long enough for me.
So, you petite beauties - it isn't just you all that have issues with finding things that fit properly. I get very frustrated too. Try being 5'9 with long legs and a size 2 and trying to find pants that fit - not fun at all.
My daughter is 5'1" and she fits in the "short" length that lots of jeans come in...American Eagle, Ann Taylor, True Religion, and lots of others all fit her without me having to hem them up.
I always seem to have a hard time finding brands that make short sizes, or they are way too expensive. I do have a pair of Ann Taylor's that fit pretty well, but even they are a tad long. Now that I have lost weight and am almost where I want to be, I may suck it up and spend the money.

You can buy Ann Taylor pants that are new or nearly new on eBay - often at a great price.
One of the sites they mentioned at the bottom of that article looks pretty interesting, for petite, tall, or plus sizes Shop Women Next time I need a dress, I think I'll order from them.
I have a short torso and long legs. So low rise = mid rise and mid rise = natural waist. Petite fits in the torso, but not the inseam.

Yes, me too. Well, not long legs LOL. I am very short-waisted, so for me a low rise is a more normal rise. I hate how everyone wants to do away with low rise, and they assume low rise automatically means you are gonna show your butt crack for me it finally means no more pants hiked up to my boobs!

That's a good point and I never thought of that before.
I'm five four, but have wide hips, bone wise so even when I was sick and under a hundred pounds I wore a twelve which hung like a sheet everywhere else. I used to buy Levi's from the men's section since I could buy by waste and inseam. I find that the low rise teen pants, size fourteen, also fit and low rise is not so low on me. Regular pants are worthless.
I used to run into problems with tops since I have wide shoulders and the rest of it was way too big. I think women's clothes should be sold in a variety of measurements, not just one 'size'.

I love lower-rise pants - not super-low, but comfortable below-the-waist. I have always disliked things around my waist (probably because I have never had one of those tiny waists - even at a 6 my waist is larger than most). I can't imagine that they will ever do away with that fit...too many people love the comfort.
You can buy clothing if you are overweight; you just can't buy designer clothing. The greatest underserved market as far as I'm concerned is the older woman who would like to have nice, stylish clothes. Our figures change as we age, and most clothing is not cut for us.
True. But that is because, sadly, 2/3 of the population is overweight.
Yes many of us are overweight. I do want to mention that we are an older population than before though. We do tend to get larger as we age. But wouldn't you agree that it makes financial sense to manufacture nice clothes for larger people, since there are so many of us?
You can find things to wear past size 14, but not designer clothes.
