On this board I've heard many men specifically state that they aren't into blondes, or that they prefer brunettes. Of course, the old dumb blonde stereotypes have been around for awhile time, but according to many men, it seems gentlemen no longer prefer blondes.

Of course, many of these men would still chase after a really hot blonde girl, but I find that there almost seems to be a backlash, maybe they see it as 'getting back at white people' against blondes. Is it just me or do you notice it too?

How does someone preferring brunettes equal 'getting back at white people'???? This simply is nonsensical.

Come on. What is your purpose here? It's certainly not to discuss fashion. Perhaps this should be moved into the POC forum.

Of course most white people aren't even blonde, but if you understand social science, whenever the ideal standard of western beauty is discussed, people seem to always talk about the 'blonde, blue eyed Aryan ideal.' It just seems to me that saying 'you prefer blondes' is almost seen as a mild form of buying into that. Maybe 'getting back at white people' isn't exactly what I mean, more just distancing themselves from this supposed Northern Euro-centric of beauty that has prevailed in America for so long.

True, it's more a cultural thing, but there's no 'culture and society' forum here, so i thought this was the best fit.

A black person can color their hair blonde. Hmm they also can be biracial giving a male or female very light hair. As a white person can color their hair or like a black person have different nationalities.

Maybe in bizarro world. I would think to get back at the white people who would care or notice such a thing would be for non whites particularly black men who are celebrities or athletes to have a blonde trophy wife on their arm and in the limelight.

It's just you. Anecdotal observations <> societal trend.

Also, you open up the whole "perception bias" meaning we tend to notice things we are looking for.

For example, if I you get rear-ended by someone texting you might start paying more attention to which drivers are texting and deduce it's a growing problem when previously you just didn't notice it.
