Bought this beautiful dark brown jacket to wear from the Belk Suits separates section and now can't determine what to wear with it. I am challenged as far as mixing color...so need your help.

* I have a cream skirt. Would it go with it? If so, what color top should I wear?
* What color pants will go with a dark brown jacket? And then, what color top should I wear with it?
* Can it be paired with black pants, skirt or dress? If so, what color top? Black?

This is for work as well as to attend a conference...

Thank you all for your suggestions...I need help!!!

D

Personally I think dark jacket/light bottom looks matronly.

I'd pair it with a patterned dress or skirt. Perhaps jeans depending on the cut of the blazer. Or with a camel shift.

On an autocorrecting iDevice.

Dark brown jacket....pair with a leopard print skirt. Wear a neural tank underneath your jacket and add jewelry.....brown suede heels. I also like brown and black....black skirt, cream colored blouse under your dark brown jacket and two toned black and brown heels or leopard flats or heels. Gold jewelry.

You can wear a brown jacket with almost any brown tone tweed or plaid or animal print. I would personally avoid pairing a brown jacket with a light colored skirt or pants, or with black bottoms. I'd stick with a pattern on the bottom, and a light colored solid top underneath, and then really bling it with awesome shoes, gold jewelry, and/or a scarf that picked up the colors in the skirt or pants.

I agree with Kathryn, any brown tweed, plaid, or print - but not too light - will look fantastic!

I know people don't like brown with light bottoms, but it does look nice with camel or khaki pants or skirt. With those kinds of neutrals you can wear lots of colors as your top: green, light blue, pink, red, whatever. You can wear it with black, but only if the shade of brown isn't so dark that it blends with the black. There needs to be some contrast. Navy might work, too, with the same caveat.
