Well, apparently I also moved to rain country because we are getting slammed today! In the last week we have had rain, hail, thunder, lightning, a little bit of snow (), super high winds and sub-freezing temps followed by 60's and 70's temps. Now we have to worry about broken tree branches falling on us.

Apparently I need to add a raincoat and helmet to the list.

I like to get a few "au courant" things every season. Even if it is just an item in the cool color. Provided it fits my style.

My list this year is black booties and leggings with a leather panel. Still looking for booties.

I am on my phone, please forgive the typos.

I do the same. I hardly ever buy any clothes that aren't on clearance. In August/September I'll buy some new summer clothes. I usually try to buy items that can be layered and worn in the fall. Dresses that I can wear with tights and a cardigan come colder weather are my absolute favorite summer items. A lot of winter stuff seems to go on clearence around mid January. I pick up a few things then, since I still have another good 2 months of winter left, and then will buy some more stuff when they're on deep clearance in another month or two.

Same thing my mom says to me. Select whatever you like, but make sure its from the clearance section .

I usually end up selecting Fleece and woolen material since they provide me with extra warmth when temperatures dip below 65. Additionally, I make sure that the sweatshirts I buy have a hood on top, because the November wind makes my ears freeze.

Polo's are nice to layer under woolen sweaters and give a more gentleman like look. Hooded sweatshirts and fleece tend to look nice under short sleeve T-Shirts. Long sleeve polo's are usually matched with short sleeve or sleeveless undershirts.

On more formal occasions, I would wear a light colored plain long sleeve button down shirt with dress pants, a tie, and a blazer.

I hate Leather

This is exactly what I do too. I love it because I pay pennies on the dollar, and when I get the clothes back out the next season, they are nearly new! I've gotten some real steals that way. Recently I hit a shoe sale at Dillards - summer shoes - and bought three pairs of very expensive shoes, well over $300 originally, and I paid about $40 for all three pairs! SCORE!!!

Looks like my sweatshirts will have to hold off this week. We are getting warm temperatures in the low to mid 70s this week and nighttime temperatures will remain above 55 F. Time to switch back to shorts and t shirts.

We call spring and fall the in-between weather. It doesn't last very long, is very unpredictable and is barely worth the money buying special clothing for.

But this year I bought an Eddie Bauer nylon rain jacket with hood. No lining, that would be impractical. I need to wear the rain jacket in the spring, summer, and fall so it would be too hot with a lining. I can always wear something warm under it for the cooler days.

I bought--in a thrift store, I will admit--a nice longer quilted jacket. Won't get much of a chance to wear it so why pay big bucks? Today was the first cool day so it got worn.

My biggest layout of money is for winter and I bought a gorgeous down parka on ebay brand new. Hood, ribbed cuffs to keep the cold out, good name brand. I could go on about summer clothes and winter clothes but where I live fall lasts a few weeks so while the styles may be cute, they are impractical. I buy out of season either on ebay (once I've tried the same thing on in the store) or at an outlet store.

Ah, a proud Texan . So do you own anything similar to one of these cute cowgirl jackets and Vests:

Women's Jackets and Vests

I know quite a bit about men's wear in Texas. My uncle works at U.T. Dallas, and never departs his house without a plaid shirt, cowboy jacket, and a hat during the winter .

Yum, I LOVE the way men in Texas dress!

And yes, I do own a few items of Western wear...you never know when we may decide to spend the weekend in Fort Worth or Gruene (home of the fabulous Gruene dance hall!). My favorite western item is one of those knee length, waist hugging but flared at the bottom coats...sort of a riding jacket. Mine is distressed black velvet. I wear it with a lacy camisole and jeans with my fabulous cowboy (well, cowgirl!) boots! Every Texan needs to own a good pair of cowboy boots...or three...
