Good list!
For a gentleman (such as myself) I will be a little more specific:
- A crew neck natural fiber (such as wool) sweater
- Khaki trousers
- Long sleeve button down collar Oxford shirt
- at least one plaid flannel shirt
- wool single breasted tweed, houndstooth, and/or herringbone jacket (leather elbow patches optional)
- a "flat" cap such as a "driver's cap" or "newsboy's cap"
- medium weight business suit
- wool overcoat black, gray, or camel color
- casual slip on loafers such as Bass Weejuns

Pretty much whatever I already have in my closet from last year. I love clothes...but I just don't shop for them much anymore - not enough time!

Long underwear .
Polarfleece everything -- leggings/tights, pants, tops, hats, gloves, scarves...
Long sleeved fitted tshirts
Skirts with leggings.
Socks. I have yet to wear socks this year, but any day now!
Bright colors to cheer up the grey days.

Cardigans
Leggings
Tights of various weights (so many colors!)
Thicker dresses
Jumpers layered with long sleeve shirts
Trenchcoat
Scarves
Socks
I pretty much only wear skirts and dresses these days - I have one pair of dress pants (need to get more) and one pair of jeans that I haven't worn in over a year. It's all about layering. Even when dealing with unpredictable and often freakishly cold New England falls, a pair of ripped out tights under leggings keep me warm even through snowfall.

As if I overhaul my wardrobe every season . Most of the stuff I mentioned are accumulated over a 2.5 year period. I add and subtract items from my wardrobe from time to time. It's too expensive and time consuming to do a complete overhaul.
Engineering courses at Rutgers are quite difficult. It is mandatory work hard and spend time on the material taught if you want to get an A or B+.
