This is a serious problem I have been encountering for a long time.
I am a 21 year old guy who likes to wear muscle tees under very casual settings, and I would like you guys to suggest a method to cure dark underarm patches. I have tried shaving off my underarm hair and gently scrubbing the dark patches with men's body wash and warm water while taking a shower, but there has not been any significant improvement in the condition of my underarms. Is there any other method besides waxing that will help me get rid of these dark patches. Its really embarrassing to see such a drastic shift from smooth and lightly tanned skin to dark rough skin whenever I lift my hands up accidentally .
I would like to avoid waxing as much as possible, since I am not trying to prevent hair from growing back. My main aim is to get rid of the dark patches alone. I would really appreciate your suggestions.
Use fair and lovely, brah. A lot of our brothers use them day in and day out
This desi commercial's proof to that. Girl gets white at the end though she looks pretty from the start. Actually, they picked a fair-skinned girl and darkened her skin to make the first half of the ad. You can see the paint if you watch closely.
I think it's sad that we keep finding new things to obsess over. We live in a time where people bleach their anuses and armpits. Does anybody but you care what your armpits look like?
I thought it's only women that worry about dark underarms, but men too ? It can be covered with your hair not like women that are exposed because our armpits have to be shaved.

The Indians love their musicals don't they? They got them in commercials now I see.
Only two musicals I ever liked: The Sound of Music and Grease. All others make me want to climb to the top of the tallest building in the world and throw myself off of it.
Although, oddly, I did kind of dig this musical commercial. Maybe because I could understand 99% of what was being said.
JustJulia, what's wrong with a person bleaching their anus? I think it was in the movie That's My Boy that the main character gives the advice that the best gift a young bride can give to her husband is to bleach her anus. No?

That's what I thought for several years. But, contradictory to my expectations, most of the patch does not get covered. Only a small portion remains covered by hair. Rest of the patch remains exposed, and dark, rough, brown skin is clearly visible. Even regular T shirts with short sleeves would expose this area if they were to roll down when you must stand and hold the upper handle during a bus or train ride. I could avoid wearing muscle tees altogether, but short sleeve T shirts are essential to stay cool during a hot summer day.
Don't get me wrong, but I am talking purely out of experience. If what you say had been the case, I would not have posted this thread for advice in the first place.

I have a deodorant that Dove makes that is supposed to clear up dark underarms. I think it works by having a moisturizer in it, but it actually does work. Not sure if the OP would want to wear Dove deodorant, but maybe just applying lotion to the underarms before bed, or after showering might help. Shaving or scrubbing the skin isn't going to help, and the irritation can make it worse.

I think the best gift a bride can give her husband is to be a caring, loving, faithful wife. A bleached anus would be pretty far down on that list. Why would that even be something that is necessary?

The idea that you'd be taking grooming/relationship advice from one of the worst movies of the past few years is telling.

Thanks for your advice. I do have a small bottle of sandalwood cream. Would it be helpful if I apply it before going to bed. I heard that sandalwood is known very well for its skin lightening properties for men and women. I never tried it out, but I am willing to give it a shot.
However, It is difficult to purchase sandalwood cream in the US once my current stash is finished. Is there any location in NJ which sells this product.
