I don't think a single person said there's anything wrong with dressing up and having fun.
But you can have fun without looking slutty and/or sleazy.
And you can have fun looking like a ****/sleaze too. Doesn't bug me either way. The question is why it bothers you how random strangers express themselves.

I don't think I've ever seen such a close poll. This is the first time I checked that it hasn't been exactly even, and it's still close at 27/25. I don't think there will be any agreement.

I hear you. I have a party for the kids in the neighborhood every year and I bought two of the girls their costumes. They're not what I'd call Halloween. Since when are kids costumes supposed to be sexy too? I have a hard time finding a costume appropriate for a kids party too. Enough with the slutty attire and lets get back to what Halloween is supposed to be.
I have no problem with anything a man or woman wants to wear so long as it complies with local laws. Although, some of those laws are sexist and outdated. They should still be complied with until they are repealed.
I love Halloween and we throw a costume party at our house every year. But it is often disappointing to go to the costume stores and see the selection. The men & boys section has such a variety of options. The women & girls section is sexy witch, sexy nurse, sexy knight, sexy cat, sexy cop, etc. As if that's all women are for, while men can be all of these different characters.
At our yearly Halloween party we just have one friend in the bunch who always comes in an extremely revealing, "sexy" costume. She looks very out of place and always seems miffed that she's the only one who "went there" with her costume. She acts surprised that none of the other women go that route. But I'm not surprised she dresses that way for Halloween. She is very conformist / brainwashed by our culture. She has received the message loud and clear that womens' only purpose is to look "sexy" and she subscribes to the Mean Girls philosophy of Halloween being a night for girls to dress like "sluts".
Hey you know what... my wife wants us to be Magenta and Dr. Frank R. Furter from the "Rocky Horror Picture Show" for Halloween...... nothing more appealing than a full role reversal... the MAN wearing the risque skimpy outfit!!!
