Does anyone have stories where they grew up extremely short but managed to grow tall or average by adulthood? I was about 4'10 through most of middle school, entered freshman year at about 5', but then hit a pretty decent growth spurt and am now 5'10 five years later.

My "baby" brother (now 49) was always short until his junior year in high school (about 5'3"). All of a sudden he grew overnight to 5'10" by graduation.

I was always the shortest girl in my classes until sometime in middle school. I shot up so fast, I remember not being able to sleep because my bones ached. I also got stretch marks from growing so fast. I topped out at 5 ft.8.

I was short through much of high school, I'm pretty sure if I looked back at my track team photos from sophomore/junior year I'd be one of the shortest on the team. I'm 6'0 now (at 21), not exactly tall, but a huge difference and a blessing.

Thank god for late growth spurts

I think that is true for a lot of boys. I volunteer with 7th graders, and each year the boys are always a lot shorter then the girls.

I see you are younger than me (63). JMO but it seems the younger crowd is getting taller and taller. When I was young I was considered way too tall. Now I see lots of young girls who are over 6'.

I made peace with my height a long time ago. I see others are still fighting theirs. Sorry guys but if somebody sometime was short in your family then the short gene might get ya. My grandfather was 6'6" my grandmother was barely 5'. Im tall and so was my Mother. A lot of my male cousins are short.
