I find that proactive really does work very well on acne.
My grandson's dermatologist said he could continue the Proactive that he started before going to the doctor, because it is good stuff. It is just not enough to fix the kind that requires antibiotics.

Accutane is a miracle, but it is very scary stuff, and expensive, so not everyone can take it.

benzoil peroxide is not the thing anymore....for individual pimple treatment, use something with salicylic acid.

Please, please do your research before you consider Accutane, especially for a young teen. My husband used Accutane when he was in his 20's. Within a few months he had incredible joint pain. He stopped taking it but it had already done it's damage. He soon after developed Crohn's disease which is linked to the use of Accutane. He will suffer with that disease for the rest of his life, which is much worse than any acne ever was.

I had also been facing this problem from past couple of months but then my friend advised me to use Clean & Clear Acne Control Kit and I must say it is the best. It contains Acne Control Cleanser, Acne Control Moisturizer and Fast Acting Spot Treatment. Acne Control Cleanser. If you use them correctly, you can easily get rid of acne problem. I can say this by my own experience. You should also try it.

My face and skin get very very dirty at work. I get grease, oil, dirt, rust, cobwebs, asbestos, soot with sulfur, pvc glue etc...etc.. on it.

I learned a long time ago that my Ivory or Dove is NOT for your face......

This stuff does the trick for cutting it and keeps a smooth face.

Should work on a teen with zits as well.

I also think you should take him to a dermatologist. Sometimes there is an underlying cause and treating that can help.

Immunosuppression and UV treatment are two of the more interesting concepts mentioned, and they point to something cheap and simple: sunlight. 5-10 minutes of unprotected sunlight exposure daily, if possible, should reduce acne. Too many people aren't getting enough sunlight.

I had the best luck with a gentle cleanser, a toner with salicylic acid, and benzoyl peroxide lotion. It doesn't always work though. My daughter never broke out until she moved to LA and now, in her mid 20's, her skin is bad. She's taken antibiotics, she change BCP's, pretty much everything OTC and she still gets bad breakouts. Sometimes she goes clear for awhile but it seems to come back regularly. I blame dirty air and stress.
