Question Suggestion for "trendy jewelry" for a 13 year old?

We have an "angel tree" at church this year, and I selected one that was for a 13 year old girl. The request was for "trendy jewelry." I'm sure I can look around and find something appropriate. I only raised a son though. So I'm not sure what would be considered particularly "trendy" for teen-age girls right now. Just thought I'd throw this out there and see if any one had any specific recommendations for a thirteen year old.

My daughter, who is 14, still wears the mutiple bracelet look......a few beaded bracelets on one arm, along with her S.S. Tiffanys bracelet. She also just bought a necklace for a birthday gift that was a pretty pendant on a long ribbon-like "chain". Some of the girls wear the chunky jewelry but she doesn't.

A lot of her friends wear James Avery silver if that helps......heart rings, earrings, etc.

Good Luck:-)

When I was around 13ish, I loved chunky plastic jewelry...like the big plastic beaded necklaces and such. Those are really trendy right now. A good place to find appropriate jewelry is at Claires. They have a great selection there ^^

oh yes, definately I agree with polkadots... Claire's, or claire's Icing branch, you can find them in any mall. Hey, they don't cater to 13 year old trendy demographics.. I still love to look around in there too!

Yup, that's what I'd suggest too! I love going in there, even though I'm 31 years old... it's a good way to see what is cool, and I'll buy stuff that's trendy but still age-appropriate for me.

Apparently "big and chunky" is trendy right now, in addition to lots of sparkle/bling & "rockstar" jewelry...

This thread is so helpful to me. I have a niece to shop for, and I have had good luck pleasing her in the past, but as she matures I worry about finding something she *really* likes. Claire's has really saved me before and it probably will save me again--thanks for starting the thread, Kaykay, and Gizmo, thank you for posting that link.

Thanks for the helpful advice from everyone. I ended up getting her a couple of sterling silver necklaces and a bracelet.

They had a great collection of Trendy Diamond Jewelry.
I noticed that you like promoting this site a lot on this forum, not sure the OP will be buying diamonds for a teenage girl at church she doesn't know...

KayKay try checking out etsy.com - I went to the site and did a search for trendy under the jewelry category and found some cool stuff at reasonable prices - you can find those search results here

Maybe try Forever 21 at the mall. They have a neat jewelry section. Although it skews a few years older I'm sure you can find something that would be appropriate for a 13 year old. If I could go back and be 13 again that is where I would shop.
