As I've said before, the Daily Mail has been revealed multiple times to be full of sh*t.
The survey that created these results was done on a single website, so the sample is very biased and likely not representative of any population at all. We don't even know how many men and women answered the survey!
But I do think that men and women have different ideals of beauty. I think women put more emphasis on the face, and men put more emphasis on the entire physical package. I've seen some men drool over women who I thought were very plain in the face but had gorgeous hair and nice bodies; and I've seen some women criticize a woman's looks based on something super specific like her eyebrows, even if that woman has a great body and the rest of her face is decent.
Doomed Shroom, did you see the latest episode of South Park? It was everything you're talking about, and had one of the most poignant endings ever (especially for that show).
Have you ever seen People of Walmart? Ain't no "fake girls" in there. There are places that aren't as shallow and superficial.
LOL, man I haven't looked at that mess in a minute. Now, I'm gonna go do that because I could use some decompression...
I think both extremes (the People of Wal-Mart 'look' and the "perfect" commercial looking chicks) are merely products of our society. Some people have simply given up on life and themselves, and it shows. On the other hand, there is nothing wrong with being the best you can be and putting your best self forward to the world, for sure, but I see a problem coming in when women (it's always just us) are EXPECTED to meet some celebrity standard of beauty. I don't know about you all, but I am a simple chick living a simple life. I don't have $$$ to spend on face implants, booty butt cheek implants, botox, the whole makeup aisle, the entire Korean hair shop..etc. But it seems that's what men have come to expect from women, perfection, from watching porn and reading mags like Maxim where all the females have had their imperfections airbrushed out and their boobs have been configured and etc. I see it all the time. I catch a lot of heat up here for my opinions about men and their expectations of females, but from what I see, it's a universal truth. I really feel bad for women in the dating game these days that are beautiful, but not plastic looking. You may as well have pox on your face.

I looked up latest SP episodes, is it titled 'The Hobbit'? I want to know before I sneak in the washroom to watch half of it.
Edit:
Okay...wow. Yeah this is kinda deep for a SP episode.

Wow us women apparently don't have much taste because the things the women picked for the prettiest are the ugliest. Now the features the men picked I agree are very pretty, the hair color don't quite look right with the eye color, but overall very nice.
Two 'perfect faces' - created from the features of glamorous actresses, singers and models - reveal the stark differences between how men and women perceive female beauty.
Frankly, both of those composite faces are ugly as all-get-out, at least in my opinion. (Just FYI, I'm an American woman.)
Then again, it is the Daily Fail... er, Mail. 'Nuff said.
