I haven't tried a straight razor yet. I use double edge. Do you use a soap or cream?

I use a triple disposable type razor and hand lotion instead of shaving cream.

My old-school dad, age 66, still uses the double-edge and a shaving mug with a cake of shaving soap, as far as I know. I don't know what brands of razor he uses, but I do know that as long as I've been alive (at least), he uses Bay Rum aftershave.

Derby blades work fine for me, usually dry shave though.
