This is kind of an old thread... but I just had to comment on this. First of all exfoliating with nails is not the same as scratching. You would obviously apply very little pressure and not leave any red marks on ur face. I’ve tried many exfoliating creams throughout my life. And just recently discovered while taking a shower that I can gently pass my nails over my face to remove dead cells. This is what the original poster was asking about. Which is not the same as scratching. Anyhow, has anyone else tried this ? It seems to me that this is a better way to exfoliate and don’t understand why it’s not more common.
Unless you have 40 fingers with nails close together, how could you possibly get anything but random coverage?
Sometimes in the shower I'll run the back of my thumbnail down my nose to pick up some dead skin/blackheads, but I wouldn't want to scratch up my whole face like that. There are better tools and products out there.
I'm new to the exfoliation process, but after doing a bit of research, I don't see why I can't simply do an exfoliation by scratching my skin with my fingernails.
Well, I think you are joking. But you can exfoliate with a damp washcloth. I have never understood the necessity for attacking one's skin with chemicals.

Except the original poster did ask if they could exfoliate their skin by scratching it.
So if you want to refinish a piece of furniture, would you use sand paper or gouge it with some screwdrivers? Same analogy.
