It seems like this has become a very acceptable practice. I remember years ago, men entered buildings and immediately removed their hats. Not so much anymore. Seems like society has become ultra casual in this regard.
When I see guys wearing hats inside, even today, it looks odd. BTW, I'm 39y/o....so I'm not that old.
I'm not that old yet either (36) and it bugs me too. "It" being the wearing of hats in restaurants, private residences, the office, and so on. When "inside" means an airport or train station, the lobby of an office building, Home Depot or a grocery stare, and such, that's fine.
I do not see why anyone cars. I do not wear hats at all, but if someone wears one inside or eating, I do not see how that impacts the world.

Tell me, how is it a sign of respect? What objective fact do you have that a person is more or less respectful by removing a hat inside? If it carried such symbolic weight, there would not even be a discussion, but fact is, enough people feel it does not mean jack squat. Just like many other clothing issues in the past that raised controversy, but now is the norm.
