Update from the original poster: I did go back again because I just couldn't get them to look as nice as they did. Unfortunately, the same girl wasn't there(she had left entirely for a better job opportunity). The one who replaced her did not do as good of a job. As a matter of fact, she messed one side up so bad,I had to buy an expensive "gimme brows" brush with color to fill it in to look better until it grew back. Needless to say,I am VERY reluctant to go back there or anywhere else and have been trying to tweeze them myself. Anyone else had this bad experience? If so,did you get over your fear or keep trying to do them yourself?
Two choices. Learn to do them yourself or go to someone else. I understand you had a bad experience, but I don't think you need to develop a fear over it. Ask around for some recommendations and give the new person a try. You'll be okay.
I'm older, too. I can get by waxing every six months and it this point, I either use a coupon or go to one of the cheaper places. I have thick brows, too. I mostly just get them shaped and remove the hair over the top of my nose.
I get mine waxed once every two weeks. Though I guess you could simply tweeze them yourself. I don't have that kind of patience though.
