I don't think so. There is also a wide template of female beauty. For instance my ex loved skinny women with no hips or boobs like Kate Moss, and obviously many others agreed...while others prefer women like Sophia Vergara (who my brother says is not attractive because her teeth are too big) Some guys think only long haired women are beautiful, others like short hair like Myley Cyrus.
maybe I'm weird, but I'm into women of all shapes and sizes, short hair, long hair, brunette, blonde, etc. The common denominator is beauty and health, vibrancy, aliveness, femininity, etc.
Would you be with me in liking those odd types, like Alan Rickman, Jeff Goldblum, Marlon Brando (early) Sylvester Stallone (in Rocky 1) and Christopher Walken?
And my ongoing crush fetish, Jon Stewart...and the President...and Tim Berners-Lee... Sigh...
I forget about Ben Barnes. He was beautiful in Dorian Grey. His eyes are so dark but he is also really intelligent. A true aristocrat.
I think I am ready to participate. This is my list:
Larenz Tate
Ben Barnes
Keanu Reeves
Edward Cullen
Jared Leto
Richard T. Jones
Guy named Chris in Essence Magazine (guy of the month). He is actually the most beautiful of them all. Unfortunately, I can't find the magazine.
Tyrese Gibson
Derek Luke
Andrew Lincoln
Malcolm X
Leon

I love Larenz tate. Hes actually my number one all time crush since I was like 11.
[quote=leanansidhex;33957410]I spent so much time looking for/at pictures for my original post that I left out Idris Elba and Gabriel Byrne. I couldn't [re]find the other post that mentioned Byrne.

Hell yes, on liking Rickman, young Brando, and Walken, although I'd have to look through pictures to see if Rickman and Walken were ever my idea of "beautiful" re: the stated topic of this thread. They are definitely sexy, though.
Sylvester Stallone was/is too bulky to fit my definition of beauty. I prefer a sense of fragility.
Mind you Idris Elba is the opposite of fragile, so it would appear that my sense of beauty has evolved somewhat.
Goldblum, not my type, personality wise, so I can't be impartial.
I wouldn't call Jeff Goldblum the epitome of male beauty but I always thought he was incredibly sexy. Christopher Walken I'd like to hang out with him just to hear the wonderful way he talks lol.
Those are few and far between, aren't they? I'd say Robert Redford is another one. He was too pretty for me as a young man, but now his face is much more interesting.
Most of the men I thought were devastatingly handsome as young guys have not aged well AT ALL. The worst example is Armand Assante. A good actor who was gorgeous as a young man. Today ... yikes. I don't know what kind of hard living he's been doing, but it's not typical. He used to play romantic leads. Now he just plays gangsters. Same with Mickey Rourke. Most people don't even know he started out as hot (see Body Heat or Diner). But now he's a plastic surgery nightmare best cast as a sociopath.
In my book, Omar Sharif, Johnny Depp, and Andy Garcia are other former handsome men who have not aged well. Ralph Fiennes and Antonio Bandaras are on the down slide as beauties, but they're still great actors. I'd say Billy Dee Williams, Liam Neeson, and Gabriel Byrne are holding up as great-looking middle-aged men. The personalities and humor shine through.
I'll be interested to see how the androgynous types that are so popular today look when they are 50+. Will they look more fem, or just ordinary? My guess is they will end up looking like average dads.
Liam Neeson has aged gracefully but I don't think there is an actor in Hollywood who hasn't had Botox.
