I'm gonna do what I feel like anyway, but I'm curious whether there's an "oh hell NO" sentiment against Women Of A Certain Age baring skin.
So the other day I was at a boutique looking at some charming and yummy boho-style dresses and tops that had just arrived for spring, but most of them were sleeveless. I commented to the store owner that I didn't know how good they would look on me, since I am 56 and am noticing little stuff like wrinkly elbows (you young 'uns, you'll get there! Well unless you are plump) and ever so slight crepey skin on my arms now. Although I am quite thin and actually in very good and muscular shape...but still, I don't want to dress too young or have people clutching their pearls and getting the vapors about my appearance.
The store owner told me I was being silly - and actually her clientele is mostly in my age range: middle aged women.
I don't really care about the opinion of 20-something guys who thinks that anyone over 30 should cover every bit of skin except their faces, but feel free to post if you have an opinion about that anyway!
I really don't think there is an "age cut off". I'm two years younger and I think we are built similarly - thin but in good muscular shape.
I admit I work on my arms but I also admit that they don't look exactly as they did when I was 30.
That said, I love bearing my arms! In age appropriate attire.
There are some 25 year olds who walk around in spandex camisoles who need to cover up, IMO.
That cute boho boutique sounds wonderful! Treat yourself to a new spring outfit and bear those arms!
Do you have someone you are trying to impress? Are you auditioning for a modeling job? .
Wear whatever the * you want. I dare anyone to say something to my face about my not perfect arms (or legs, stomach, etc.). Guess who would look like an idiot then.

I think if you want to be buried in a top like that there should not be a problem then and up to that point in your life.
Honestly who the hades cares what someone else thinks about how you look? If you like it, you spend your money on it and you want to wear it then wear the danged thing and move on with your day and more important worries.
As long as the person doesnt have flabby arms id say a person can wear a sleeveless anything at any age.
Bull. Wear what you like and are comfortable in. "Flabby" arms or no - expecting women to run around in purdah because YOU think they are unattractive, flabby, or not thin enough is ridiculous.
I agree wear what you want. It's absurd how so many older women such as myself have spent YEARS getting an education, good job and finally make money so that we can afford more/nicer clothes than when we were younger yet suddenly we just need to cover up? No way! I am about to be 43 and I wear skirts, sleeveless dresses, halter tops and think I still look great! Even my daughters bf has made a few comments lol.
I have said it before but I have always hated how on the show "what not to wear" in the opening there is a sign that says "no mini skirts after 35" what a load. There are plenty of women over 35 that look great in mini skirts and there are just as many under 35 that need to stay away from just shorts let alone mini skirts. I keep myself in great shape and use coconut oil on my legs and I have gotten plenty of comments, even from 20-something guys
The only prohibition I have about sleeveless anything is it freezing cold outside. Other than that go for it!!

As long as ones arms are muscular, non-flabby, and an asset when checking oneself out in the mirror, by all means show them off, even if you are 90. However, if the cellulite and the jiggles are present in any way, shape, or form, then cover up.
When going for a little bit of body exposure, it's less about age and more about whether what you are exposing looks good. It is tragic for a 40 plus to be exposing fat. So if that issue is present, stay covered. When making the decision to expose something, just ask yourself: does this thing I am revealing look good and can it turn my target audience on? Nice, toned, smooth arms are always worth showing off. Fat or sloppy arms should be kept under wraps.
