The only time I wear "gym" shoes, is when I work out. They are not apart of my daily attire.

What are you thoughts?

Men can still dress nice and casual while being classy and relaxed.

Casual is cool.

Grab a pair of Sperry Topsiders.....and can the gym shoes.

Spounds like me lol just the shoes or usually bright yellow or green. I've always worn workout type of clothes.

I'm 6'2@227 and I can't imagine not being in sport clothes and the backwards hat too (sometimes). I don't want to wear khakis, topsiders, and a polo lol unless I'm at work.

You wear your boat shoes and I'll wear my running shoes, call it even.

I never once mentioned money, and that is not even remotely what I'm talking about. I'm talking about style.

And I'm a lady, btw, I don't wear boat shoes.

I havent paid attention to style since high school. I wear what "I" like, only paying attention to whether it fits or not.

The OP and her girlfriend want to know why some older guys wear childish stuff. I'm not sure, I'm over 43 and am certainly no snazzy dresser at all. I just wear what is comfortable and the least dressy my wife will let me get away with. Other than that, most men don't care too much what other men wear.

Merrell and Keen make shoes that are comfortable and durable but look casual rather than sporty.

Go to REI and you'll find them

i remember back in the 70s you had to have a pair of shoes you wore to school and a different pair that youd leave in your gym locker that were only for gym use (aka gym shoes). ironically both pairs usually looked the same.

Great brand, great value. Saucony is #2 for me.

Then how come some people in their 40s look down on me for wearing double breasted suits, suspenders, swiss watches, cufflinks, and spats? I'm in my mid 20s.
