I'm retired now. My usual manner of dress when I am in public is dressy casual. I've never been a jean person, although I do have a couple pair of dark indigo jeans that I wear on occasion.
At home I like to be comfy, so I'm usually in yoga pants and a knit top of some sort.
Mostly dresses with a cardigan, jacket or blazer. They're easy to dress up or dress down with accessories like tights, shoes, jewelry, scarves, purses, etc.
Sometimes skinny jeans with a cute top, and will top it off with a cardigan, jacket or blazer generally. Unless it's summer.
Shoes are according to season; sandals, boots, flats or heels in fun colors, traditional or trendy styles depending on mood.
Color? I have a sea of black, blue and grey dresses, blazers, trousers and skirts. I like to play with layers and accessories.
Example for winter: I might wear skinny jeans, black sweater and black boots, but wear an colorful coat (like fuchsia and purple tweed) as the statement piece.
Example for spring: Black sheath dress with colorful shoes and purse with clean line silver jewelry.
I've never worked a job where I had to dress up so my main "uniform" for work and for every day, is tees and jeans. Summer would be tees, cargos and flip flops. I'm pretty low maintenance and don't really know much about fashion (although I would love to learn someday).
My uniform is casual pants (usu. jeans or khakis) and a top for the season. Something suitable for running errands and doing things around the house.
