I have a black, sleeveless, mid-length dress very much like the one at Sleeveless Double-Knit Dress - Dresses - Kenneth Cole to wear for a recital (all black attire required). I will be wearing it with plain black flats.

Though this is probably fine as-is, would it look funny to wear sheer black panty hose with it? I think tights/hose are kind of cute, but I fear they may not balance so well with sleevelessness and/or the longer length of the dress.

As a bonus (and possibly dumb) question, can 21 year-olds wear headbands in this day and age without looking funny or like a preteen? I'm kind of considering adding one of those to the outfit, too..

I see nothing wrong with black hose as long as they're on the sheer side.

Good luck at the recital!

And yes to the headband.

I think it would work better with sheer hose than black.

Headband, dress and black sheers sound good.

I wouldn't wear black hose or black sheers during daytime hours. Not sure what time the recital is.

I would not wear hose with a sleeveless dress. It looks confusing.

No fashion expert but I pictured that dress with black hose and said "no." Headband, yes, sheer hose, yes. I know people say not to wear hose with a sleeveless dress but the occasion calls for it in my opinion. If you were just out for the day shopping or whatever, no hose would be fine.

The dress is really cute! A headband would add some personality and I don't think you will need any hose....

I think black hose and a black headband will look great.

I can only gauge by your profile pic, but based on your complexion, it would depend on how "sheer." It would be ok if the hose looks like this:

Any darker, and I'd advise for a more natural/nude hue.
