I noticed "thigh gap" years ago - I came of age in the 80s when you were supposed to look like Farrah Fawcett.

Yes of course she had a thigh gap.

It is a sign, usually, of malnourishment and I accepted 30 years ago that I would NEVER have one, being built like a busty milkmaid thanks to family genetics.

Now apparently I can skip off to surgery - or photoshop

Everyone forgets how skinny the ideal "beauty" used to be, in the 70s and 80s. It was if anything, worse than now.

Beyonce and Kardashian would have been laughing stocks where I grew up, women were not supposed to have bums or thighs or even boobs back then.

Well, here all these years I've been hating my skinny legs because I have a natural thigh gap. Guess I'm finally in style!

Dear MBM, as long as the thighs can be pried open.

I hope this thread helps you men realize how microscopically our bodies are scrutinized and critiqued. Think about it the next time you read/post a thread criticizing women who don't look like some ridiculous ideal.

^Duly noted, but don't blame men in general for those ridiculous ideals. Note your use of the passive voice there. Who is doing the scrutinizing and critiquing, and why do you care what they think?

As for thigh gaps, check out the fiddler in this video and decide whether not having a thigh gap is hindering her in any way.

Shoe is now on my other foot in life.
what's funny/sad about this thigh gap obsession is it is women-made. Men don't notice it or make a huge deal of it, we like curves and some muscle.

I think wars have been fought because a woman, somewhere, sometime, had a moment of being unhappy with her outward appearance. It's gotten ridiculous. The standards set for all of us, and the way we SHOULD look, including us men. Again, I'm no goodie-two-shoes: I still stare a nice rear end on a woman, or a great chestal-region , but we have to make sure women and men are desired most for their attitude and their personality. Looks get the attention from pigs like me, but the looks don't last. Just ask my wife about this pumpkin-pie haircut I'm sporting this morning....
