I'm going to go with 2005-present. I agree with whoever said upthread that it looks like modern clothes just don't fit right, and that the fabrics are cheap and chintzy.

Agreed; it wasn't all wacky scarves, ballooned clothing and poofy hair. If I had to choose my favorite decade for dressing, it was the 80s. I loved the fun prints, the bright or pastel colors and the boxy jackets; at the same time, I liked the classic preppy look, too.

Women's clothing in the 30s was very feminine - at least, from what I see in pictures and film - fluttery dresses in gauzy material, flounced or pleated suits, slim skirts with ruffles or pleats at the hem for fullness.

You've touched on a very valid point here. Someone who lived in an era & actually wore the clothing will have a different opinion than those who only see pics of days gone by, as they weren't there. Also, I guess I'm an inner diva because when someone mentions eras & styles, like the 30s, I see old Cary Grant movies in my mind & think of women in gorgeous dresses & men in beautifully tailored suits... when in fact, the average person probably didn't wear such clothing day to day & as it was the depression, many couldn't afford it. I wish my current salary allowed me to be an outer diva.

They look like Charlie Brown & Linus come to life. I'm not too fond of the too loose & baggy look especially when wrinkled (I seem to see a fair amount of grown men dressed that way now), but for kids, well... I usually give them a pass.
After all, I had flag patterned, red/white/blue jean flairs when I was a kid & they looked snazzy with my mustard colored parachute jacket, fashion maven that I am.
Someone gave me an op-art paper dress in the sixties. I never wore it.
I adore that mod rocker, Peggy Lipton style from the 60s (vertically pinstriped hip-huggers & flowered minis), but what provoked designers to make a paper dress? Surely, it couldn't have lasted long. I shudder to think what would have happened if caught in the rain. Were they cheap & supposed to be disposable or some such similar function? I never heard of them.
For now, I voted for the 2000s. After all, it might be rather hard to beat this...
I saw one young lad in Boston attempt to race across a rather busy street in order to catch a bus... well, he hobbled, then sort of hopped, then tripped & fell in the street. Drivers passing by were laughing hysterically as he rolled around on the pavement, stuck under the weight of his backpack, as he tried to get to his feet, hitch 'em up & look cool to the teenage girls on the bus.
Dude almost literally threw himself under the bus.
