Yes this is after the UCSB tragedy that happened after the guy got angry of white girls rejecting him and went on a rampage. Now since White girls are always promoted as the most attractive, guys (of all races) want them.
If they were not promoted as the most attractive, would they still be the most desired?
No. For the vast majority of men, it would be that whatever type of woman was promoted as the most attractive by the big-money media machine would be the most attractive, period. If they promoted black women, black women would be seen as the most attractive by most men. If they promoted fat women, it'd be fat women. If they promoted women with shaved heads, it'd be women with shaved heads.
For proof of this, all you have to do is what I did - research what type of women men in other cultures (specifically cultures without American/"Western" influence) view as being the most attractive. Generally, when propaganda is left out of it, men will seek out a woman whose physical body makes it appear that she is capable of doing the things he wants/needs his woman to do. I recall one study wherein it was concluded that in societies with Western influence, men's ideal waist to hip ratio on a woman is 0.7:1. And, in societies without Western influence, it is 1:1.
So yeah, if Hollywood and the fashion industry suddenly started promoting, for example, dark-skinned black women, very quickly the spam e-mails I get about "mail-order Russian brides" would change to "mail-order African brides". People are fickle like that - they're so easily brainwashed and programmed by the media machine.
Controversial Question: If White women were not promoted as the beauty standard, would they still be the most desired?

Its a dumb question, not a controversial question. Beauty, is beauty. White women aren't "promoted" as the "standard" of beauty". OMG what a ridiculous question.
Would be great if the MODS would check these ONE TIME/FIRST TIME poster's IP addresses and compare to existing regular posters. Then just use the posters normal CD name instead of the ridiculous "new account" they created just to start a dumb thread.

What do you think, there's some kind of conspiracy or something?
There's some kind of radio transmitter at the South Pole that's been making men's brains like a certain kind of thing for the last several hundred years?
I am not sure I would assign a negative connotation of a "conspiracy" because marketing types lean towards models who are representative of attractiveness ideals to the majority population.
There are also a lot of terrific looking, highly successful models of minority descent in modern marketing.
The marketers are not trying to force down people's throats what is attractive, they are trying to appeal to what most already think is attractive to gain people's attention. If they find the stereotypical blue eyed blond model gets the most attention, then they are more than likely to go that route.
^^
And in doing so, I think they try to create an illusion. If you go to any country in the world, you'll see that they promote what they think will sell. It's about $$$$.
It seems to me that Hispanic women (and men) are often "promoted" as good looking/sexy
I'm gay, so I can't really comment on women, but I noticed that after I left my very white suburban existence and joined the military where I was around men of all races, I started finding men of any race attractive.
Hmmm, I'm white, but I have long thought that other ethnicities are much more beautiful. For example, I think Indian women, with their dark hair and eyes, and their smooth dark skin, look much prettier than my pasty white caucasian skin, that lets every spider vein and blotchy spot show up a mile away. In general, I think any skin with more coloring than white is prettier and smoother looking.
As much as some like to think otherwise, there's no big conspiracy going on. Businesses want to make money, so they promote what gets them the most attention, and sells. Most people are white, so they want to see pretty white girls.

I think that he or she means "White" in the sense that the U.S. Census Bureau defines it.
Technically the term "white" or "black" is now a matter of self-identification. You can decide if you are white or black or other.
White. A person having origins in any of the original peoples of Europe, the Middle East, or North Africa. It includes people who indicate their race as "White" or report entries such as Irish, German, English, Scottish, Italian, Lebanese, Near Easterner, Arab, or Polish.
For ethnic Latinos 47.9% identify as "White" and 42.2% identify as "Some other race".
Nearly all scientists consider "race" a social definition and not based on any meaningful biological facts. The concepts of a "white, black, yellow, red, and brown" race were formally written in books in the 18th century and were based on the very limited science at the time. They were heavily mixed with the social structure then existing which was trying to justify both slavery and the mass slaughter of indigenous people.
At the risk of being obvious, Lupita Nyong'o is one of the most frequently photographed exemplar of beauty in the USA today.
