Didn't see anyone mentioning Versace? Is Versace no longer elite anymore? Even with his sister designing now? Also, i've noticed some nice apparel from John Varvatos.

I liked Gianni's work...it always seemed glamorous to me, but I feel like his sister is a bit gaudy by comparison.

Everyone's named most I can think of, but I don't think I saw Burberry. Anyway....I grew up through the 80's and I remember some names from that time period. Here are a few more: Givenchy, Jean Paul Gaultier, Valentino, Van Cleef & Arpels, Balenciaga, Christian Lacroix, Lanvin, Guy Laroche, Louis Feraud, Nina Ricci, Paco Rabanne, Pierre Cardin, Yves St. Laurent, Halston. I guess that 2-year magazine subscription to Vogue was worthless since most people cannot shop haute couture fashion houses. It's funny how one can remember these brands though.

Not any expensive brands that have been commercialized and made fake of.
So many don fake Louis Vuitton and Gucci from their lower end lines that they become tacky.

I have tendency to think highly of people who wear Patek Phillipe watch and in some extend Phillip Chariol when I was a kid (Unfortunately I grew up in "that" community so I have known brands since I was a kid).
Balenciaga, Hermes and Kenzo are also there.
I always love Moschino and Jean Paul Gaultier but I think they are gaudy. HAHA
Same with furniture. I always think people who has Ligne Roset sofa (and yes I will recopgnize them) is luxurious and chic. Same with certain Kartell furniture, such as the eros chairs.

But like what everybody said, you can wear Banana Republic or Jack Wills or even Target clothing but you can look like a millionaire.
