I was talking to a friend yesterday. She had changed up her hair a bit, instead of wearing a pompadour she wore her hair in a mini Afro. And her boss did not recognize her at all!

He gave her the "who is this strange person look?"

I find some people don't recognize me when I am wearing my glasses. It is really funny.

Has something similar happened to you? You got a haircut, wore a new kind if outfit, put on glasses/contacts and suddenly people are like "who is that?"

Yes. I really worked with my hair to give it extra volume and a new look, and people who didn't know me really well didn't recognize me. My friends did, but acquaintances didn't.

Also, my supervisor at work shaved his beard off once for a vacation abroad, and NO ONE recognized him!! He did it on lunch hour, and when we came back from lunch, some stranger was unlocking the office door, and we had no idea who it was! lol!

I used to always wear my hair down, I mean every day and every minute. The first time I ever wore my hair up my dog, at the time, started to growl at me! He didn't recognize me till I started talking. I started wearing my hair up more often after that happened.

When I went from being a cakeface to wearing nothing at all yeah, I got "what's wrong with you?" or "what happened to you?" or my favorite, "are you sick? you don't look so well..." Well damn, thanks!

but this was in high school. Eventually people got used to it and when I did wear makeup they asked why or assumed I must have been interested in a boy

After losing 32 lb, many are startled with my body shape and clothing choices back then and right now. Its a great motivation for other family members as well.

Congrats! Keep up the good work!

People don't realize that when you're overweight, you wear just anything to get by. And there are fewer clothing choices, anyway. Then when you get back in shape, you can start seriously stylin' ! And people are surprised, because they'd come to view you as not interested in fashion.

I think people do notice change. I will say that men do not seem to notice subtle changes as much as women do in my experience.
