Maybe, maybe not. The store nearest me used to be full of signature and small cross bodies, as that mall catered to young people. I had go to the next closest store if I wanted the bigger leather bags. I also find the Macy's/Nordstrom selection tends to pretty closely mirror the boutique ratio of leather to signature.

And of course, there are bigger steals in the department stores! I grabbed a croc embossed bag that retailed for $850 for $200 at Macy's

It is not uncommon to find a nice bag at Macy's for 40% off at the end of the season. Coach typically only doles out 25% discounts. And these days, under $300 isn't very common in the boutique for a larger bag.

If you go to coach.com or the boutique store, they will sign you up for PCE aka preferred customer events. They discounts there are much more substantial than 40%, especially when paired with the new annual sales. The reason you rarely see good discounts of end of season is because they send deletes to the factory outlet stores. Deletes are usually not on the shelves there but if you ask to see them you can score amazing deals. I recently got a midnight oak legacy duffle ($398 still at the boutique) at the FOS for less than $70 due to a PCE, and the normal discounts.

That takes a lot of insider knowledge and dedication. For the average person, who isn't "stalking Coach for deals" it is a lot easier to hit the department store.

Well here in the NE, having shopped in NJ and MA, Macy's has a much smaller, selection of leather bags compared to the boutique stores. Maybe where you live it is different.

Additionally, there are still MANY leather bags, including many in the legacy and madison collections in her price point.

I have roughly 7 Macy's in a 30ish mile radius. I uncovered the Coach selection varies widely based on the store. I mean the differences are huge. Some have mostly Madison and Legacy. Others have mostly smaller bags. Some don't get many seasonal colors. Some get the higher-end bags ($450+), some never get a bag over $300.

Macy's tends to have huge variation in store selection based on neighborhood and feeder area (and store age).

I live in the Houston area so we pretty much have everything under the sun.
My last Cole Haan I purchased at the Cole Haan outlet store for 80% off. Plus got the matching wallet for a drive out less than $150.

I purchased another Cole Haan yesterday evening at Norstrom Rack for $149. It's a small shopper in a bright blue with black accents.

I'm not one that likes to go to a bunch of different stores hunting deals. I figure my time, gas in my car, dealing with traffic is worth the tad more it may cost to make an easier purchase.

A few days ago I bought a Nine West bag from Marshalls with $15, and it's pretty amazing. (you can also find Michael Kors bags there).
