I love the idea of getting "natural" products with few ingredients. A couple weeks ago I was tempted to buy a body butter and I didn't when I read the ingredients, and thought about the price.

So I thought...well I am sure I can make this myself!

So I went over to my local whole foods and grabbed shea butter and avocado oil. I have coconut, olive, caster, and apricot kernel at home already.

Batch one: mostly shea with olive, coconut and avocado + essential oils. It seemed OK but I added a few too many drops of orange oil.

Batch 2: avocado, coconut and shea in equal portions. The texture was a little bit thin, but seemed to work pretty well.

Batch 3: 1.5 parts shea, 1/2 part castor, 1 part coconut, 1.5 part avocado. Now it is chilling in the freezer. We'll see how it goes tomorrow.

Have you tried to make your own buddy butter? How did it work?

*I have seen lots of recipes for whipped butter, but that uses too many dishes! I am happy with a less light and fluffy texture.
