My mother is about 5'2" & 135-140 lbs., and she's ALWAYS had this problem! She actually buys capri pants sometimes, and just takes out the hem - they fit perfectly that way, LOL. I'll have to ask where she gets the best jeans, but I know she loves Dress Barn, The Limited and Ross... just not sure if she buys jeans there or not.

Paige denim recently introduced a petite line that is supposed to be very nice. I'm 5'4" which is the height of the average American woman, and I find it hilarious that all jeans seem to be made for women who stand 5'9" or so. Because most jeans cannot be altered that dramatically without ruining the line of the jeans (esp. bootcut styles). Anyway, maybe check out Paige? I know they're very expensive, but I think I'll pick up a pair myself since I live in jeans during the winter.

Many stores do carry petites, but sometimes even those are long on me (I'm 5'3"). In summertime I wear capris all the time--no hemming to worry about! I agree The Limited and New York and Co. sell cute petite jeans. Fashion Bug stores (Don't know if there are any where you live) also carry some petites.

Here's a site where you can enter all your measurements, and it will give a list of jeans that should fit:

I have three ideas for you:
I weigh about 130 (still haven't lost baby weight) and am 5ft. I buy jeans at Old Navy, Gap and Nordstrom. Nordstrom is double the price but I like that they alter them right there as long as the jeans aren't on sale.
