I heard from a customer of mine (who said she was told by her dermatologist) that Amlactin Lotion, 12% lactic acid, works for that soft area under your upper arms. I haven't tried it, and I haven't talked with that customer again about it.

No external cream will FIRM anything. Exercise might.

Some things will plump up areas when you put them on or "tighten" because they dry and form a film that goes away after you wash it off (think hairspray) but they won't change anything.

Most of the stuff that works is really just exfoliating your skin, taking off the dead flakes and revealing the newer area under it that looks younger for about a minute until it starts to die off.

Fyi, Vaseline is actually terrible for the skin.

Eh. Retinol can work as far as temporarily improving appearance, but only to a point.

Your best skincare bets, honestly (outside of lucking out with the genes for naturally good skin), are moisturizing as needed for your skin type, reducing sun exposure, good nutrition, and getting enough sleep. Health overall is reflected in healthy skin. Fighting the natural effects of time is, overall, a losing battle. Nothing short of surgical removal is going to really do anything about skin that has lost its elasticity (why people who have undergone gastric bypass and similar rapid weight loss experiences sometimes elect for surgery to remove loose skin that's left).

After you shower, your skin has absorbed some water and plumped up a bit. All any cream can do is seal in that moisture and do it's level best to keep the skin plumped.

It doesn't last very long though.

I do like and use the Nivea skin firming lotion with Q10 -- because it's not heavy, dries quick and spreads easily. It does make my skin feel soft, too.

Did read a review from someone who claimed her boobs were lifting because of it, but really -- there's always a wingnut somewhere.
