If you are one of those rare 20-30 years old who don't have a tattoo, why not? What percent of your friends and family your age have one?
This again?

Nobody in my family in my generation has one that I know of.

Tattoos are very taboo among many Jewish people, both for religious reasons and obvious historical ones. I would never get a tattoo. Ever.

I know a lot of people my age who have them. I personally don't like them and think they're kind of trashy, but I don't make that assumption about people who do have them.

I am 29 years old. I have lots of friends with tattoos (some with lots) and I actually think a lot of them are pretty awesome. I also find girls with tattoos pretty attractive (it's not an isolated factor, it's more like if she is already attractive AND has tattoos it can be a small bonus).

However, I myself do not have any. No particular reason but a few half reasons:

1) coming out of college I was worried about my professional appearance since I work in a job where I am in front of clients often (now I am not as worried about it as I am older and more confident and more experienced but I also have less desire for a tattoo now)

2) cost. when I was in college and really wanted some I didn't have the money. Now I am older and have plenty of money but once again my drive isn't as strong. I still wouldn't mind some but the drive isn't as strong.

3) lazy. I like the idea of a tattoo but just never put the effort in beyond that aha

If your kids feel pressured to get tattoos, that's really on them, and they must not have the ability to really think for themselves.

Just introduce them to someone who's had a tatoo for over 50 years and can share their perspective about personal branding. The majority of people get tired of having it and as they got older, want to remove it.

I think it's strange that so many people (especially young women) are into tattoos these days. When I was growing up, the only men with tattoos were those who got them while drunk in the military. And the women who got them were "bad". I wonder if those who have got "inked up" recently will wonder what their art will look like when they are in their nineties.

I am 44 and don't have any and have never really seen much appeal in tatoos. I have never felt any pressure to get one by anybody.
