"Old lady" scents are fragrances that were popular before the 1970s. They are very smooth, powdery, floral, and strong. They often have notes that are not so popular anymore, like gardenia, rose, violet, lilac, wisteria, heliotrope, and sandalwood. For ex., L'Heure Bleue, Norell, Joy, Evening in Paris, Youth Dew.

I'm another who loves the niche scents, and wears something different every day!

My current faves, mature but not old: Urban Organic, Sugar Lemon, Cartier, and a niche 'Rain' fragrance that smells like cucumber and melon.

There are perfumes that I think are too 'young' for me now, that I wear when I am alone but maybe not in public. One that smells like tangerine candy, for example, or honeysuckle. I still love them .

Chanel 19 is the one that smells like my grandma .

I wish I could love Mitsouko, but it doesn't agree with my chemistry.

I wore White Diamonds for years and eventually switched just to try something new. A few years after that someone told me it has an "old lady" smell. I've been a little paranoid to ever wear it since, but when I catch a whiff of it I still think it's my favorite perfume ever.

White Diamonds is notorious for being an old lady scent, but it's very popular to this day.

That's so funny to me because I always point out old lady perfumes when I smell them and have never associated White Diamonds with old ladies, even when I'm smelling it on an old lady.

Right now I can't wear perfume because it all makes me nauseated. I still have part of a bottle of Venezia perfume from the 90's and I can tolerate it, but I only feel like wearing it maybe once a year.
