Hmm....I don't think of names like those, when I think of ghetto names. I think of more extreme names like Marqueesha
Laquita or Laquisha
Quavion

Basically if it has a "Q" in the beginning or middle...it juuuust might be ghetto. LOL

Quinton would be an exception.

I was given a name that was traditionally for men. And it's not like there's even a cool nickname for it. I was the only girl in the entire school with that first name, back in the day. I hated it, and still do. Now that I'm getting older, I've been going by my middle name, which is decidedly more feminine, albeit boring. That's okay.

And yes, without a doubt it affected my life.

I've asked this before in a similar thread, but how about the name Tinley for a girl?

I don't like Jackie or Jack either. Jacqueline seems perfect! And not "Jack-a-lynn" but straight "Jack-lynn".

I would think she's from the south. And I think it's kind of weird.

It makes me think of a suburb (metro Chicago's Tinley Park, to be specific).

That said, I know a Tenley, a Kinley, and a Kinsley.

Not in this thread but in many other discussions about names. I like those ones. And other common names, like Sarah are Arabic too.

But you know there are loads of silly people in the universe.

I am surprised....you were hardly born when Kareem was in the NBA.

Lakeisha and its cousins like Leticia, Lateefa are Arabic names. Marquisha is related to the French word Marquis, and is used in France.

Some people just have creative spellings of names that are descended from other languages.....

I've got a 2 name hyphenated first name. Both names are fairly common, but i have slightly unusual spellings for both. This doesn't seem to cause and issue most of the time but credit card companies and drivers licenses do not like to use my hyphen so the name on my IDs and other semi-official stuff is off, and the pronunciations people come up with are pretty ridiculous.

I usually just go by the first part of my first name. When I was a kid there were quite a few girls with my first name. But now I mostly meet men with my unisex name. I was shocked to find an author with my same spelling. I had to send her a note. Lol!

And neither was Lebron .

But the "Kareem shot" is still quite famous. My brother plays ball quite often, and always tried imitating the Kareem shot.
