Recently there have been some news articles on declining denim sales and the rise of the so-called athleisure trend (yoga pants, leggings, etc). Just curious to get some thoughts/opinions on this. Do you think jeans are permanently on their way out as a fashion staple or is there hope for the denim industry?

Myself, I hope the denim industry is able to bounce back. I love jeans because they can look great and they are an important and interesting piece of Americana (in my humble opinion anyway). I appreciate that fashion should be individual and that many people are going for comfort, but I'm just not a fan of how it looks when worn as casual wear out in public. Plus I would hate to see the death of my beloved Levi's. But that's just me.

I doubt if jeans will ever be "out" so to speak. They're such an established wardrobe staple I don't ever see it happening. I love my jeans as well, but I also love the comfort and look, depending on who is wearing them, of a great pair of yoga pants.

I personally despise the word "athleisure" and hope that goes away quickly.

I don't believe jeans will ever be out.

I'm all for the word going away quickly as well. Just as long as the trend goes with it.

The faster they leave, the better.

I don't see the term or the trend going anywhere. Lululemon and Athleta have both expanded their merchandise to include clothing that can easily transition from yoga class to street wear. The Lululemon that I go to STAYS packed and many of the ladies are trying on and/or buying those transitional pieces. I don't see an issue with it, personally. The clothing is pretty cute and functional, IMO.

I like jeans in winter. Usually, I wear cotton dress pants in summer as business casual.

Most important thing is that pants Shouldn't squeeze the living daylights off my crotch.

I weal yoga pants while hiking or running.

Not cute on everyone.
Yoga pants stretched so much that you see underwear color... not cute.
Yoga pants that show every roll and bulge... not cute.
Flesh colored yoga pants... not cute.

Unless you are a teen or in shape, yoga pants should only be worn for yoga.

Leggings can be just as bad.

I for one like the trend !
I also agree with you, some should dress for the body they have not the one they want.
Although sometimes you just have to take the good with the bad..
