I started lifting, doing crunches, press ups, lateral raises and eating more protein in July-Aug last year and while that improved my definition (got a nice 6 pack going as well) I was just too thin since I wasn't eating enough cals! So I increased my meal portions slightly which helped me put only about 5-6 lbs.
I went on a serious bulk only about 3 months ago when I added 1 snickers and 30-35 almonds per day which gave me a surplus of 500-600lbs per day. During this time I wasn't really lifting due to an injury, although I was reasonably active.
I would suggest cutting the snickers when you aren't lifting. Otherwise, good job!
Seriously, OP, go get some counseling. Asking strangers on an anonymous forum if you are cute, pudgy, etc is just weird. And reeks of insecurity. Don't you have a trusted friend, family or teacher/counselor/religious leader you can ask?

You look fine in both. Considering you're an adult in the newer picture I'd recommend doing away with the five o'clock shadow and getting a more mature haircut, but your physical self has nothing to be concerned about.
