Why do we say this is for old people? (looks, thin)

I noticed while shopping the other day that those sweaters you got as a gift from your grandma that my generation didn't wear and put in the back of the closet are selling like hot cakes to this gen. lol
You know the ones I'm talking about.................they're all the rage this winter.
I might dig some out of the back of my closet for my kids. lol
Since Vans and Converse came back I've been call this generation the fashion recycling generation. They love to reuse from previous generations. I was hoping to see some new space wear, but instead my eyes have been taking a walk through my fashion past. It hurts, it really hurts.
In my family, older men (usually above 45) wear dhoti's and a cotton shirt for comfort in summer. Personally, I'd look silly in such an outfit at this age. I'd rather wear a muscle tee and pajama shorts at home for comfort.
SAS shoes. Nothing says I'm an over 65 female than these on their feet.
Lol, watch, those will become a fad in no time because you posted it. Look Katy, cool new shoes!! They'll be the same shoes but in bright neon colors. Wait.....I think they've already started this trend.
They are wearing Charlie Browns again, so why not!

My nephew wears fedoras. My son has one, and wears it occasionally. They are somewhat popular with the young crowd.
I've never worn the newsboy caps and don't care for baseball caps. I only, ever wore cowboy hats when I was one on a working cattle ranch. However, I've worn fedoras since my late 30s and still do in the winter. While a "suit" I had several to go with the attire I'd chosen for the day or with my topcoat or raincoat. Dressing for success is not rocket science and I couldn't care less about fads. Those are for sheep. Since my early youth I've always preferred to dress timelessly be it casual or more formal. If nothing else it save on wardrobe costs and closet space.
I think the person wearing the clothes is what decides if it's "old" or not.
Take the stereotypical "old" person (and many do NOT fit this stereotype) with gray hair (worn short and curled on the women, balding on the men), excess weight (makes Minnie look like Mickey), false teeth, a wrinkled face, and a height that is 3-4" shorter than the rest of us. Put ANY type of clothing on such a person, and they will not look "young". It can be this season's hottest new fashion...won't fool anyone!
My granddaughter, age 14, lives in sweats and sneakers. She looks cool. My wife, age 65, lives in jeans and blazers and tailored shirts, with leather boots. She looks cool, too!

I had to wear those things as a teenager (1960s) in Catholic Girls HS. You could not PAY ME to ever wear those things ever again no matter how old I am.
