Teaching is a demanding job that sometimes has you on your feet all day. My feet hurt after standing all day, and then I have to go back and do it all again. Comfortable shoes would be nice, but, being a lady, I usually choose pretty over practical. Are there budget-friendly shoes with good support that fit both bills?

My sister is a teacher and has decided to expand her teaching-shoe budget to keep her feet (and therefore her knees and back) healthier. She likes Naot and Clark's best, but has checked out LifeStride, Softspots and White Mountain for more budget friendly options. Style-wise, none of them are "oooh, pretty" shoes. She waits for social occasions to wear the stylish stuff.

My DD likes Dansko shoes. Expensive but she swears by them. I like SoftWalk, also expensive but VERY comfortable.

After a bout with painful plantar fascitis about a year ago, I now forgo fashion and go for comfort and health. So New Balance tennis shoes for me. I have several pair that I switch between, never wearing the same pair 2 days in a row so they always thoroughly dry out/ air out between wearings. I prefer NB because I have wide feet. In the snow, I will wear a pair of sheepskin boots with the plantar inserts.

My mom was a teacher and always wore SAS shoes when she worked because they were comfortable to stand in all day. They make much cuter styles than they did a few years ago.

My sister likes nursing clogs, like Dansko. I like Softspots, but some are more comfortable than others.
