Well I went back and read my posts and don't believe I tossed around the term when referring to "someone else". In all the sentences with "rock in sock" I was referring to my own personal friends who have used the term with me and I have used with them. I assure you, they were not offended.

No mention of the insults I have to endure on a daily basis

again, i get your point BUT there seems to be something wrong if WE are responsible for how women feel about themselves. why cant women take this responsibility on themselves. what i mean is: why are they looking for our acceptance in order to feel good. why cant they feel good about themselves BY THEMSELVES?

Come on, you live in the world! You are really telling me that nothing anyone has ever said has hurt your feelings? I'm a strong-minded gal myself, but I definitely remember comments that stayed with me a long time. I was just trying to let people know that words are powerful and someone might feel hurt. FYI I did get repped already for my post, and they said "thanks" so we have lurkers that are not posting here and I have a feeling they WERE hurt.

Of course you should not ever be insulted like that! But there is still this notion that women's bodies are public property that are free for anyone to comment on and that's a sad, sick fact. The ONLY reason anyone should comment on another person's appearance (family and close friends aside) is to pay a compliment, or to tell them they have spinach in their teeth!

Obviously the thread should be closed because we can't discuss this issue and say things that are on our mind. No matter what the issue is, someone is going to get their feelings hurt. Some people only want us to say things that they agree with and nothing else.

Same thing goes for other threads and issues like Abortion, Politics, Relationships, Gays and Lesbians, Cheating on spouses, even the exercise threads, the list goes on and on. Someone is always offended. I guess we should only post things that everyone will agree with so we can all be "popular" on the threads, NEVER ever say or speak the truth or what your own personal beliefs or feelings are.

I received FOUR reps for my posts in this thread

Hmmm. I'll go ahead and assume that this was directed at me. All I can say is that as far as "saying what's on my mind" that's exactly what I was doing. Not flagging posts, not giving negative reps, just expressing my opinion. So I'll go a step further and, while I am saying what's on my mind, will add this: I think that women who get breast implants are silly, insecure, and potential suicide risks if we are to believe the scientific data. Furthermore, I would (and have) lost respect for women that mutilate themselves in such a weird, dangerous and perverse manner.

Just speaking my mind!

It was not directed at you at all! Just those who feel that they can control what we say. I defend your right to speak your mind!
