Good for you for speaking your mind!!

I just hope the woman with breast implants reading your post and the women that you know don't get offeneded and hurt that you called them silly, insecure and possibly suicidal. J/K

No i cannot remember ever a time when someone commented on my body in a negative fashion (something i said maybe yes, my attitude maybe yes, but not my physical appearance) (this is not to imply that i am perfect looking believe me). maybe i only hang with people that would never say such a thing (to my face of course).

FYI I did get repped already for my post, and they said "thanks" so we have lurkers that are not posting here and I have a feeling they WERE hurt.

So I'll go a step further and, while I am saying what's on my mind, will add this: I think that women who get breast implants are silly, insecure, and potential suicide risks if we are to believe the scientific data. Furthermore, I would (and have) lost respect for women that mutilate themselves in such a weird, dangerous and perverse manner.

Just speaking my mind!

i think we can all agree that some women go way overboard in pleasing society with surgical changes to their bodies. it is the media's fault (worship of movie stars, raunchy television) in my opinion. we all need to raise our daughters to be able to see past that.

Good for you! But maybe that's why you can't understand why it would bother someone? I've been fortunate that any negative comments were few and far between, but there are two that STILL bother me. 1) my brother once told me that my mom mentioned to him that my arms were "disproportionately large" LOL! I'm quite thin, but my arms have always been bigger than one would expect (maybe because I was a swimmer when I was younger?) and that was the last time that I put on a tank top without thinking "these are the arms that will destroy the world..." 2) I have skinny calves, and when I took a pair of boots in a few years ago to get tapered (they were HUGE on me!) the man and woman BOTH came over to measure me and then looked at each other and back at me. The lady said. "Maybe you can do exercises?" That was the last time I put on a skirt without thinking "These are the calves that are too thin to carry my weight.." Lol.

These are minor, and it never stopped me from feeling great about myself, but they do linger there. And I have friends who have been teased about their weight that really DO feel like lesser people because of it. It makes me incredibly sad. That's all I was trying to say.

It's a supportable commentary on their state of mind/behavior (well within their control) and not on their physicality (which is out of their control). I can also dislike members of certain political persuasions because that is a choice as well. My take on it at least.

No, no, no! I DO still wear skirts and tank tops, I just remember those comments and giggle to myself when I do.

I agree here, why let other's comments bother you Mojo. I grew up being teased merciless because I was 5'8" tall and 100 lbs. - anorexia, beanpole, etc. and was flat as a board and a proud member of the "itty bitty ***** committee" which the boys in my class nicknamed me. I was a gymnast and I couldn't help the way I looked, sure it hurt, but I didn't let it ruin my life. Thank god mother nature took over when I was 23 and finally blossomed. I also have big upper arms like you say you do. Why would you stop wearing tank tops?? Who cares what others think or say?
