Waste not want not. I love it.

Like my trendy leather bag? It’s actually a repurposed Southwest Airlines seat. - The Washington Post

Interesting. I live outside Portland and never heard of that company.

Just think of all the butts that have sat on those purses.

Far worse than that. Do you remember those indigestible oil products that used to be on the market as a zero-calorie alternative to regular oil? I forgot the brand name. I remember reading a painfully detailed account by someone who ate that before a flight and then accidentally pooped copious amounts of it into the aircraft seat. Not a leather seat, though.

They make super cool leather cuff wallets that are not too expensive. The cadillac jacket was awesome: the zipper pull was the hood emblem.

They also make bags and acessories. Luckily there is stuff at a more moderate price.

We stop by to gawk during first friday art gallery openings where they are open late.

Actually my husband loves leatherworking and I do improvisational art that sometimes calls for leather as well. You know where we get ours? Goodwill/Arc/Salvation Army. We buy old jackets and coats and cut them up for supplies.

It's far cheaper than trying to get pieces from Tandy or buying hides online, for sure.

He makes suede pouches and dice bags. I make whatever. I used a bit of suede in a steampunk skirt thing and recently made one of those punk rock "battle vest" deals (denim vest with patches and spikes) and I used the leather to make eyeball patches with some half-round doll eyes on the lapels.

I love recycling unwanted stuff, getting materials for cheap or (better yet) free! So obviously I think this idea is fantastic.
