So I just started a new job that requires a more formal dress code than my prior one and needed to pick up some new clothes.
About 80% of the shirts had those #@%& 3/4 length sleeves on them. I only see this on women's clothing. Am I the only female out there that despises them?
Same for false pockets on pants! I need pockets on my pants, whether they are jeans or dress pants
GRRR....
I ended up buying 2 women's shirts that actually had long sleeves, 2 men's shirts (long sleeves) and 1 pair of dress pants with real (but small) pockets in the front.
Whomever came up with the false pockets needs to be cast into Dante's 9th circle and whomever came up with the 3/4 sleeves needs to be tossed into a new and more horrific 10th circle
I like the 3/4 sleeves because those who don't fit a certain size don't have to worry about too short or too long sleeves...no alterations.
You might be a perfect 10 say, and every 10 long sleeve length might be just right for you...when others run into problems. I guess that's why there are so many 3/4 on the market now...trying to accomodate shoppers.
Another 3/4 fan here! I'm in the south, so that sleeve length works for most of the year. Even when I wear long sleeves, I end up pushing them back to 3/4ths.
I'm another who loves 3/4 sleeves. No worries sleeve length and they span the seasons.
But I completely agree about stupid fake pockets. I need real, large enough to hold a phone functional pockets, and it's tough to find them in women's pants.
Another fan - perfect transition from sleeveless/short sleeve in summer and long-sleeve in colder weather. I agree about hating the false pockets - or worse IMO - those stupid pockets on pants fronts that are an inch or two.
Manufacturers have not realized that women now require functional pockets. They are caught in the Dark Ages of the 1940's and 50's. It drives me nuts to see suits for business with faux pockets. So, we can't carry a pen, pencil, small pad, keys, phone, credit card, ID? So unrealistic.
Long sleeves are better looking, but 3/4 sleeves do keep your sleeves out of water when stacking dishes in the washer, or just washing your hands. They are more functional.
I despise fake pockets. I'm not a fan of those short pockets some of the jeans have now, either. They are better than nothing, but not by much.
On the other hand I like 3/4 sleeves. Most of the time I find that long sleeves are an inch or two too short. They seem to be made for short people. I find that with pants, too. Also, with the 3/4 sleeves in the spring/summer I only have to put sunscreen on my lower arms. I don't know why, but I hate having to take the time to do the whole arm. It's like unloading the dishwasher. It's easier, but I'd rather scrub the toilets.
