The pairs of pants that I own, do fit, but I notice that when I pull them up into place, a few minutes later they slide down a tad, that I have to re-pull them up again. Does this sliding mean that I am too skinny or is it just the material? Has this happened to you guys, both guys and girls.

Yeah, it's a pet peeve of mine. Seems like they ALL do that, regardless of material or size. Even my tight stretchy yoga pants do that!

They they don't fit you properly.
Wear a belt or look for pants that fit your shape.

Some pants with a little bit of stretch fit fine when you put them on, then they start sliding down after you've worn them a little while.

Some pants just do that and depending on the material you could have them tailored a wee bit to take it the slack and the cost should not be enormous. Mine do that from time to time but it is because of the nylong unders I wear since I don't like all cotton unders.

Suspenders!

(Or if you're a British speaker, braces. Let's not have confusion on this sensitive topic.)

One word: Cut.

You need to choose different cut of jeans.
I had the same problem. I always pulled my pants up, at some point I even got so irky and bought jeans that were way too small or buckled my belt super tight so that they did not fall.
If you have the same dilema with me, never buy low cut jeans.
Shop around different brands; sometimes their definition of cuts are different.
I finally found right brands of jeans and I am happy.
