I'd disagree. I think the majority of women in the US don't think a male in a Speedo is sexy, and that is borne out from the comments from women in this thread. Most males are going to wear whatever is going to be appealing to the opposite sex, whether they are single or in a relationship.
If more women found guys in Speedos attractive, you'd see more guys wearing them in this country. Even if it's a "good" looking guy wearing one here, they are the subject of ridicule. I saw that a few times when I lived in FL. It's just not an accepted style here.
So the question is, why do women find guys in speedos not attractive only in the US? Certainly women in Asia, Europe, South America, etc. do not think that way.

Because in the USA sissies are not considered appealing to women.

Too many overweight guys in the US.
A well built and/or muscular Asian, Latino or maybe French guy in a speedo .. yummmm
How is that any different than females showing off breasts?
I'll bet a Ben Franklin if you polled a statistically-valid sampling of 100 American women, say age 18-50, and asked them if they "liked" the visual of an average man in speedos....then did the same with 100 American men, similar demographic, if they "liked" a well-endowed woman in a bikini...
...You'd have vastly more "nays" among the women vs. men.
It's simply effete and in generally poor taste unless you're a competing athlete. I find it a reasonable bet Europeans have a somewhat-different take on aesthetics, based on their cars, entertainment, and so much else. More love of elegance and shall we say, sleekness (if that is a word).
