An effect of fashion is in how it pleases us – whether for the wearer or observer – for which it should be celebrated
And beyond it lie the questions of which gender it makes more contented, the forces that can change it &c

Do men or women derive the greater pleasure from seeing a person well-dressed? Till lately, I believed that this be mainly for men. But recent conversations have convinced me that women can get excited too. For instance, someone dear and near to me said that she was taken with the sight of me, though unshaven, in only white Tshirt and boxers. I was surprised

Does a woman or man look better in a hat? I think that a well-balanced one will enhance the appearance of nearly every one of us: and the Queen is a good example of that. Her hats give her a piquant air of near-cheekiness; but those of the competing or minor Royals can be so exaggerated as to look silly. I have several hats: and, couldn't do without one

Most of QE2's hats aren't flattering on her, though. She chooses awkward, bulky, unattractive shapes. Hats can enhance a woman's look by how they frame the face. I think that if well-chosen, they enhance a woman's look much more than a man's hat does.

^ We can see how just how much effort you put into your comments: isn't it easy to spoil someone's work!
Is one allowed as little as that here, or does one get special dispensation – perhaps under the old-pals'-act?
