I see it all the time even in meeting. I think its kinda cute, gives this college boy/girl look. especially when I see coworkers in their 50 wearing them with suit, they look like lil 12 yr old boy forced to wear suit. It is very common in technical world where one might have to wear suit once in blue moon
I kept noticing this on the plane. Grown, mature men carrying North Face or some casual canvas backpack. I wondered if briefcases were out of style that much. Too me, granted I am mature, it seems to hipster or like college.
That was my first thought. I have no problem with backpacks in general, but unless you're wearing a tweed suit jacket with leather elbow patches because you think it makes you unique, I say ditch the back pack for these purposes.
When I dress casual it's really casual but I would never wear a backpack with a suit. You might as well be wearing clown shoes. A black messenger-style bag maybe but that's it. If that's not big enough to carry what you need to a meeting then get suitcase or a courier.
To quote a blog I read earlier today (written from an American woman's perspective about American men): You can blame my pretentions on every man in Copenhagen, and I refuse to apologize for them. You’re pushing 30 and you’re dressed like my high-school boyfriend in public. Buy a pair of dress shoes and get your **** together, man.
A suit + backpack looks completely atrocious to me.
It makes me wonder, if that person has no idea what they actually look like.
Well if you are just traveling to work why would you care.
Having to wear a suit sucks in general, glad I am in IT.
