Even if an older woman has an attractive body (clothed, anyway!), what styles on her would cause a reaction in you akin to "What in the world is she thinking?"

And/or do you think older women should just wear whatever they like?

I think everyone should wear whatever they like. That said, I don't really think of 50 as that old (I'm a 37 year old male) and I would think it sad for anyone (male of female) to simply give up on how they present themselves just because they turned 50. There are many beautiful women over 50.

The other day I saw a much older woman in very short black denim cutoffs, a sheer black blouse, and a black bra underneath. She was very thin but very wrinkled, all over. My kids were joking (very quietly, just to each other) that she was Lady Gaga, 40 years from now.

I don't buy the idea that women should stop wearing certain things just because they get to a certain age...no long hair, no shorts, etc. are all dumb "rules" for people to try to follow...but everyone should own a mirror, or have a good friend who will tell them if they're going out of the house in something that just looks wrong.

I definitely agree with you, except I would draw the line at Madonna's thong get-up at the Grammy's! (Actually, I think that outfit would have looked tacky on even a 20-year-old Playmate -- but a 50-plus woman exposing her tush? That was just pathetic and SAD, imo.)

That doesn't sound like something any woman should wear, regardless of age!

I think just about anything if it fits her well, is tasteful and flatters her.

IDK...

What magically happens, that the outfits you wore when you were 49 are no longer appropriate when you get over 50?

Short shorts and mini skirts. I'm good with the rest, as long as it fits her.

See-through stuff. Belly free shirts. Short shorts.

No.

And I am not excluding myself here. I am 38, in good shape, and already wouldn't wear what I wore 20 years ago (like bright pink shorts who show the thighs fully.).
