Reason I ask is I don't have an accurate body image. I look in the mirror and think I look thick, almost chunky. I'm 5'10 and wear a 4 or 6 jeans depending on brand, and I think to myself, how could I possibly look thick if I wear a 6? So I do a lot of comparing when I'm out and about, trying to figure out what I really look like.
So today I'm in Penney's and I see a row of mannequins wearing tags on their jeans. They were very slender -- they're mannequins! So I walk around to the back to reach the tags and the butts are tiny. I'm guessing a size 2. Grab a tag and it says 8!!! All 3 of them said size 8! No way!
They size mannequin clothes differently, right? They want the average size 12 to think they're only slightly larger than the dummy wearing a size 8.

No we put the exact same clothes on mannequins. If we had a customer that needed a size that was on a mannequin we would pull it right off the mannequin and hand it to the customer. That would be annoying to have to order special mannequin clothing.

Yup ^^^.
OP, sounds like you may have a distorted body image?

Exactly.
5'10" size four and you cannot see how thin you are?
So I really just bought jeans a size smaller than those mannequins? Hmmm maybe I don't have to diet after all. LOL
I've been overweight most of my life. Finally lost somewhere around 150 lb. I assume that's why I can't see myself. But that was 12 or 14 years ago. Still trying to figure out what I look like.
